All 3rd-grade teachers are required to thoroughly read the PBA Instruction Guide and complete the mandatory training prior to administration. CIP: The Comprehensive Instructional Program
The Standards of Learning assessments for public schools in Virginia establish minimum expectations for what students should know and be able to do at the end of each course in English Language Arts, history, mathematics, and science.
SOL tests in reading, writing, math, science, history and social sciences measure the success of students in meeting the Virginia Board of Education’s expectations for learning and achievement. All items on SOL tests are reviewed by Virginia classroom teachers for accuracy and fairness, and teachers also assist the Virginia Board of Education in setting proficiency standards for the tests.
